Continuing Education – After school classes (Secondary School)

Forms 1-4, 1 day per week 3:30-5:00pm

Term duration 2 months:  January 18th – March 18th 2016

Our teachers are registered with the Ministry of Education and are fluently bi-lingual to a native-speaker standard, and have lived and worked abroad in a Spanish-speaking environment for multiple years.  Our afternoon classes complement the Secondary School syllabus using different immersion methods to help the young learner.

Evening Classes for Adults

Our Spanish courses are Instituto Cervantes approved.  Instituto Cervantes is the world-wide organization created by the Spanish government to foster the spread of cultural and language knowledge in the same way as the British Council is for the United Kingdom.

Our teachers are registered with the Ministry of Education and are fluently bi-lingual to a superior standard, and have lived and worked abroad in a Spanish-speaking environment for multiple years.

2016 Schedule

Beginners & Continuing Students

Beginners: January 18th – March 18th, 2016 (8 weeks)

Continuing Students:  January 11th – March 11th, 2016 (8 weeks)

Class times 5:15pm – 6:45pm, two evenings a week 

Post-SEA Transition Classes

A 5-week, afternoon vacation course to help prepare students for entry to secondary school.  Entering secondary school is an exciting moment, but it can also be daunting and stressful on students.  Vacation language courses can help students bring confidence to their new surroundings as well as provide a head-start to the language component most secondary schools have as mandatory for these first years.

Our classes have both a Teacher and Teacher’s Assistant who are registered with the Ministry of Education and have lived/ worked in a Spanish-speaking country and are bi-lingual to the native-speaker level.

Class times:  Daily 1pm – 3pm

Our French Courses are designed by Yale University and use a highly effective and interactive audio-visual immersion method. French culture and expert grammar & pronunciation tuition will help bring the language alive for course participants.

University Applications – Personal Statement tutorials

Every university requires written submissions from each applicant, proving their merit over another applicant.  At the Austin Learning Centre we work with each student to strengthen these specialised writing skills.  Whichever university you wish to apply to, we focus on the requirements of the personal statements, the critical essay and resume/ CV building.

IELTS preparation for Native Speakers of English

This course is designed to equip the native speaker of English with the test-taking skills required for the IELTS examination.  A well rounded, complete approach is taken so that strategies for all sections of the test are delivered and practiced at length.
